Best apps and websites for ICSE students.

"Best" depends entirely on what you actually need — a textbook answer key, a video explanation, or genuine hands-on practice. Here's an honest breakdown, including where we built EasyICSE for and where we haven't caught up yet.

Last updated August 2026.

First, figure out what you actually need

"I need to check a textbook answer"

A solutions site — KnowledgeBoat or Shaalaa. Fast, free, exhaustive.

"I need a concept explained"

A video-first app — BYJU'S or Khan Academy — if watching is how you learn best.

"I want to actually practise and understand, not just read"

This is the gap EasyICSE was built for — drag, build, and prove instead of watching or copying.

"I need mock tests and doubt-solving"

AI study apps like Super Tutor or Toppr are built around this specifically.

Where EasyICSE actually fits

Most ICSE tools solve one of two problems: give you the answer (solutions sites) or show you a video (video apps). Neither actually has you do anything. EasyICSE's Play series is built around a different loop — see a concept demonstrated, drag it apart yourself, build it back up with real tools, then prove and solve a board-pattern question — so the practice is hands-on rather than passive.

That said, we're not trying to be everything. Two honest limits worth knowing before you pick a tool:

Subject coverage today: Geometry, Trigonometry, Algebra, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology — not yet English, History, Geography, or Computer Applications.

It's not a solutions library: if you need to check a specific textbook exercise answer tonight, KnowledgeBoat or Shaalaa will get you there faster. EasyICSE is for building the understanding those answers depend on.

Frequently asked questions

What's the best free app for ICSE textbook solutions?

KnowledgeBoat and Shaalaa are the two most widely used free options for chapter-by-chapter ICSE textbook solutions (Selina, ML Aggarwal, and others), covering most subjects across Classes 6–12.

Is BYJU'S good for ICSE students?

BYJU'S covers the ICSE syllabus with animated video lessons and is a reasonable choice if you learn best by watching, but it isn't ICSE-specific — the same content and app serve CBSE and other boards, so the syllabus alignment is looser than a board-specific tool.

Is EasyICSE free?
